Web Document tab missing in file properties

I recently noticed an annoying problem when I right-click any .url file, or and shortcut (.lnk) to a .url file, and select properties to see the target. The "Web Document" tab was missing. Previous versions of Windows had the target in a "Shortcut" tab, which Windows 10 still use...

Re: The Android Authority Agrees With Me

Excellent article and also one of my long-time beefs. And as he said, things that are not designed to be repaired are indeed possible to repair -- just damn near, but not impossible, and if you can't or won't do it yourself, it will probably cost as much as replacing the whole enchilada. And if you ...

Re: This Was Before My Time

I read that and found it very interesting. Long before my time also, as I moved here in 1976. I think I had heard it mentioned before, but knew no details. It was a very ambitious concept, and a shame it never came to be. And it is not to be confused with the water park just east of LC, that also ne...

Re: VPN blocked on certain websites

PIA (Private Internet Access), but from what I have read the issue cuts across all, or at least most, VPNs. BTW, I have been very pleased so far with PIA, and have been using it for slightly over a year. Occassionally it will either drop a connection, or even freeze up, but that is rare. Simply Task...

VPN blocked on certain websites

I have previously noted my frequent inability to connect to the Golden Triangle PC Club website, across all my computers and browsers. I also narrowed down the problem to my use of a Texas server setting in my VPN, although I could connect if I switched to a Florida setting! Upon a bit more digging,...

Yep!
I've seen that or a variation of it before, but it is still funny, and pretty close to the truth.

That is pretty cool, but his eyes must have been pretty good to be able to read that tiny print!

Re: GTPCC News

It seems sporadic. Sometimes (like when I posted above) it is not working on several computers and browsers, then I check a few days later and it works fine. Considering the news coming from them, I assumed (incorrectly) that they had already packed their bags.
I should know better...
NEVER assume!

Re: GTPCC News

Seems to be down for the count again, and I suspect it may be permanent this time, although Jerry had said they were going to try to keep it up until February 2018, when their domain and host expires. Sad to see them go -- the club as well as the website.

Re: Lock Down the Firefox Browser

There is no substitute for reading the settings and options available and adjusting them as you see fit. Articles such as this are a good starting point, but ultimately, YOU make choices that work best for you. Or come to a SWLAPCUG meeting where browser security/settings/add-ons/practices are a fre...
